Tires

While most tires are black, that is about all they have in common. Here are some things to keep in mind:

All tires have DOT (Department of Transportartion) ratings for wear, however while the tread on cheap tires may last, cheap tires tend to create a "Pull" fairly early in life.

All tires are Old at 4 years, whether they have been on the road or not. Just like Old Men, Old tires can act-up unexpectantly.

Run-Flat tires are designed to save the auto manufactorers money, they don't have to provide you with a spare tire. Run-Flat tires provide a harsh ride, make noise and are expensive to replace. Our customers who have them want to get rid of them as soon as they can.

The tire pressure monitoring systems are causing lots of problems for car owners. If a tire valve stem cap is left off, the stem can corrode and cause damage to the monitor, which is mounted inside the tire.

Cheap tire valve stems from China are failing with a sudden and complete loss of pressure. The big tire stores are using them.

Where to buy Tires

P.A.T. does not stock tires. When you come to us and we recommend new tires, we check with our supplier to see what tires they have which will match your driving needs and style. Our Supplier and our parts manager consult on what new tires are out, what feedback they have gotten and we will make some recommendations to you about the tires available. We don't "push" a certain brand, or the "old stock" we have left, but what is best for you.
